Causes of Juvenile Delinquency in Bangladesh and Its Preventive Measures: A Review

Abstract

This study was conducted to find out the major causes of juvenile delinquency in
Bangladesh and to suggest its preventive measures as well. Documents review and
content analysis were used to collect and analyze data of this study where data were
collected from several secondary sources like scholarly journal articles, books, survey
reports, and internet sources. In this study, the major causes of juvenile delinquency in
Bangladesh were found to be broken family, peer group influence, electronic media,
economic condition, child labor, genetic factors, surrounding environment, lack of proper
recreation, cultural factors, and psychological factors. Several preventive strategies of this
problem were also found as well. These strategies incorporates improvement of parental
relationship, overcoming economic challenges, parental supervision, positive use of
media, proper accommodation, proper recreation, and undertaking psycho-social
programs.
